AMD Releases Last Quarterly Update to Radeon Pro Driver Suite for 2018edit
AMD today released their last driver update for 2018 in the enterprise segment, the Radeon Pro Software Enterprise Edition 18.Q4 driver. A new feature is the Day Zero Certification Program, which serves for would-be deployers of AMD’s updated drivers (or any business looking to leverage the red team’s products in a new installation) to know which programs have already been certified to work flawlessly with the latest driver revision. Exactly which scenarios and configurations (name of the ISV, software, OS and graphics card used during the certification process) are also part of this certification. This list is up to 290 entries as of November 13th.

AMD Radeon RX 590 Launch Price, Other Details Revealededit
AMD is very close to launching its new Radeon RX 590 graphics card, targeting a middle-of-market segment that sells in high volumes, particularly with Holiday around the corner. The card is based on the new 12 nm “Polaris 30” silicon, which has the same exact specifications as the “Polaris 20” silicon, and the original “Polaris 10,” but comes with significantly higher clock-speed headroom thanks to the new silicon fabrication process, which AMD and its partners will use to dial up engine clock speed by 10-15% over those of the RX 580. While the memory is still 8 Gbps 256-bit GDDR5, some partners will ship overclocked memory.

Intel Neural Compute Stick 2 Launched for AI, Deep Learning Without the Cloudedit
Intel has launched the next version of its Neural Compute Stick, a simple USB device that the company says can greatly accelerate AI processing and deep learning inference on consumer PCs. It is aimed at use cases where neural networks need to be deployed without a connection to cloud-based computing resources. The new Neural Compute Stick 2 uses the Intel Movidius Myriad X VPU (visual processing unit). Intel acquired Movidius, a computer vision processing startup, in 2016.
