On 9 January, Lisa Su, president and CEO of Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), presented her first keynote at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nevada. With 4,500 exhibitors from 155 countries, the world’s biggest consumer technology conference showcased innovations ranging from functional to hedonistic. There was Google and Amazon, of course. And rollable TVs. Self-driving suitcases. Bluetooth turntables. Capsule-based beer brewing machines.

AMD Radeon RX 590, RX Vega 56 Prices Slashed Amid NVIDIA’s GTX Turing Onslaughtedit

Just yesterday, we posted an article comparing the newly released GeForce GTX 1660 to its AMD competitor, the Radeon RX 590. The GTX 1660 pretty much beats the 590 in every game (at a lower price). It became apparent that AMD needed to either come up with the Navi cards ASAP or further reduce the prices of the existing RX 500 series, mainly the RX 590. And well, what do you know, that is exactly what happened.

AMD Releases Dual-Core A6 9400 APU For $35edit

AMD is building on its 7th Gen A-Series line-up of APUs with the introduction of the AMD A6 9400 APU. The chip is presumably being produced by TSMC on the 28nm node. The new “Stoney Ridge” Core uses the Excavator Microarchitecture and comes with 1MB of L2 cache.

With The Division 2, Ubisoft has partnered with AMD, and has optimized the game for AMD GPUs. This newest trailer shows us what the game can look like running on AMD graphic cards on PC, as well as several AMD-specific features you can get in the PC version of the game, such as volumetric lighting, global illumination, and strikingly stark high-resolution shadows. Assuming you want the best looking version of The Division 2 possible, it seems like PC rigs running on AMD cards are the way to go.

Alphacool, a German enterprise which manufactures coolants for silicon microprocessors, has launched a custom waterblock for AMD’s Radeon Vega VII discrete graphics card. This comes after AMD’s decision to let other manufacturers make custom coolers for the card.

First announced in February 2019, the GPU chip has 6 GB of GDDR5 VRAM and is a step up from the GTX 1060 GPU chip, which is based on the Pascal architecture. The 1660 series is targeted towards the mid-range GPU sector and will compete against graphics cards like AMD’s RX 580.
