AMD Radeon GPUs to power Google Stadia game streaming platform (Proactive)edit
AMD has announced that its cloud-optimized Radeon datacenter GPUs will power Google’s Stadia game streaming platform, which Google unveiled a few days ago at the Game Developers Conference.
Stadia is a new video game platform, delivering instant access to games on any type of screen—whether it’s a TV, laptop, desktop, tablet or mobile phone. The goal is to make those games available in resolutions up to 4K and 60 frames per second with HDR and surround sound. Google will be launching later this year in select countries including the U.S., Canada, U.K. and much of Europe.

Google Stadia is the search giant’s latest venture, which lets users play high-end AAA games on a smartphone, tablet, notebook, Chromebook, and an entry-level laptop. Stadia can offer 4K HDR video game streaming @ 60fps and in the future, Stadia will be able to stream games in true 8K resolution @60fps. The only requirement for the Stadia is a high-speed internet connection with low latency. Google will use AMD GPU and CPU to render games in a remote location, which will be streamed like a YouTube video.

It promises 4K-60 FPS in modern games although we are pretty sure that it won’t be at the ultra graphics preset. As per the latest Steam hardware survey, things are looking rather grim for AMD’s Radeon Technologies Group. AMD’s most popular graphics card, the Radeon RX 580 is apparently being used by less than 1% of the total Steam user-base, 0.94% to be more specific. There is not a single red card with a higher share on Steam’s database, which to be honest is quite disappointing.
