AMD celebrates its 50th anniversary on May 1, and to mark the occasion, the company is rolling out special edition versions of its current top-end CPU and GPU, as well as offering a new game bundle to customers who buy one of a selection of other products.

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, AMD has launched the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Gold Edition. The processor comes signed by Lisa Su, the Chief Executive Officer of AMD. Buyers of the Gold Edition will also receive two free games, a Lisa Su signature sticker, and an AMD 50th anniversary t-shirt. According to the popular American chip maker, the entire celebration package is available only for a limited time through participating retailers.

Canada Computers put out details of Ryzen 7 2700X 50th Anniversary Edition, officially known as the Ryzen 7 2700X Gold Edition, a commemorative SKU of the 2700X which has been pictured in our older story. At the time we reported that the new SKU commands a roughly $50 premium over the regular 2700X with a fancy new box design and a facsimile of AMD CEO Lisa Su’s signature on the processor’s IHS. Turns out, you get a whole lot more.

The AMD Radeon VII launch at CES this year was met with a very luke-warm reception from gamers. The 7nm graphics card was launched for an asking price of $700 which put it right against the RTX 2080 from Nvidia. When the benchmarks revealed that the latter was slightly faster and came with the RTX exclusive features like Ray Tracing and DLSS, gamers had little reason to opt for AMD’s 7nm flagship. Furthermore, the supply shortages coupled with overpriced units at retail didn’t really help.

The company also says that select online and offline retailers will be offering 50th anniversary deals on AMD products between April 29 and June 8. in the US, this includes a special one-day sale on May 1 at Best Buy . There will also be special edition products including graphics cards and motherboards from some of AMD’s partner companies.
