AMD Ryzen 7 2700X Gaming Performance: Are the Zen+ CPUs a Good Buy for PC Gamers Today? (Proactive)edit
There’s a popular belief among gamers that AMD hardware gets better over time (like a fine wine). Why? Well, mainly because team red focuses on hardware and as a result, the software-side (esp GPU drivers) gets relatively less attention compared to competing GeForce drivers. This is also one of the reasons that Radeon GPUs are seeing higher gains in DX12 based titles, as the low level API cuts the driver code and offloads the responsibility of optimization to game engine devs, thereby rendering a good chunk of the optimizations obsolete.

AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT Confirmed to Feature 64 ROPs: Architecture Briefedit
AMD “Navi 10” is a very different GPU from the “Vega 10,” or indeed the “Polaris 10.” The GPU sees the introduction of the new RDNA graphics architecture, which is the first big graphics architecture change on an AMD GPU in nearly a decade. AMD had in 2011 released its Graphics CoreNext (GCN) architecture, and successive generations of GPUs since then, brought generational improvements to GCN, all the way up to “Vega.” At the heart of RDNA is its brand new Compute Unit (CU), which AMD redesigned to increase IPC, or single-thread performance.

AMD 300-series and 400-series Motherboards to Lack PCIe Gen 4 with Ryzen 3000edit

AMD Ryzen 3000: Which Motherboard to Buy: X470, X570 or B450edit
AMD wasn’t able to fully deliver on its promise of supporting the Zen chipsets across all three generations, at least not fully. The Ryzen chipsets, namely the B350 and X370 will only support the Zen 2 chips in certain cases (depending on the OEM), while the A320 won’t be supporting it at any point of time. The 2nd Gen chipsets, X470 and B450 will be able to run all three generations, while the X570 platform will only work with Zen+ and Zen 2.

AMD Confirms Ryzen 3000 “Matisse” Features Soldered IHSedit
AMD senior technical marketing manager Robert Hallock, responding to a specific question on Twitter, confirmed that the 3rd generation Ryzen processors do feature soldered integrated heatspreaders (IHS). Soldering as an interface material is preferred as it offers better heat transfer between the processor die and the IHS, as opposed to using a fluid TIM such as pastes. “Matisse” will be one of the rare few examples of a multi-chip module with a soldered IHS. The package has two kinds of dies, one or two 7 nm “Zen 2” 8-core CPU chiplets, and one 14 nm I/O Controller die.

AMD announced its new RDNA architecture powering the Radeon RX 5700 Navi GPUs alongside the 7nm Ryzen 3000 lineup at their Computex keynote. Although the star of the show was the Zen 2 core, the Radeon part did get a decent amount of attention, and unsurprisingly, many curious journalists were able to get their grubby hands on the Navi die for a more accurate analysis. The Navi GPU die has an area of approximately 255mm². This is almost half as large compared to the TU-106-400 chip powering the RTX 2070.
