AMD today addressed multiple issues with its 3rd generation Ryzen processors through a highly-recommended update to its Chipset Driver software. To begin with, it stated that several users noticed anomalous behavior with 3rd generation Ryzen chips where the voltages and clock-speeds would be raised as the processor would misinterpret low-scale performance requests from certain software as a request to unlock higher performance states (combinations of higher clock-speeds and voltages to support them).

Intel Core i9-9900KS Spotted: Slower than AMD Ryzen 9 3900X and the Core i9-9900Kedit

Just a day before Computex, Intel announced yet another 9th Gen chip based on the Coffee Lake refresh, the Core i9-9900KS. Basically a higher binned 9900K, the KS variant has all the eight cores running at 5GHz, all the time. This means that we’re looking at a better IHS (soldered?), higher TDP and a chip that’ll run hot without liquid cooling. Furthermore, as the single-core boost is unchanged, the SC or ST performance should be unaffected over the 9900K, but we *should* see some gains in multi-threaded workloads.

How AI is enabling Edge Computingedit

AI has become a major player in the market for adoption of edge computing. The edge computing layer was originally only meant to deliver lower compute, storage and processing capabilities to IoT deployments. Furthermore, sensitive data that could not be sent to the cloud for analysis and processing is also handled at the edge. Another added benefit of this approach is the reduction in latency from a roundtrip to the cloud. A faster response time allows for aggressive filtering of data at the edge and also significantly saves any additional costs on cloud storage and bandwidth.
