AMD’s resurgence in both the processor and the GPU market has shaken up a long-dormant industry and while it isn’t quite at its prime yet, AMD is doing enough to get its legs free from the quicksand and make some serious moves. Nvidia’s cheeky launch of the RTX Super line-up during a strong line of 7nm announcements by AMD appeared to have zapped its momentum. But that only lasted till AMD dropped the prices of its GPU line-up barely a couple of days before launch to get back in the game.

AMD Ryzen 3000 Processors Won’t Overclock Well Using Conventional Meansedit

AMD’s Ryzen 3000 processors seem to have pleased most enthusiasts, however, overclockers aren’t that impressed by the chips’ abilities, mainly because AMD has already pushed the Zen 2 CPUs to the highest possible frequencies (under stock conditions). According to AMD’s senior technical marketing manager, Robert Hallock, you’re better off overclocking the memory and the Infinity Fabric instead of the processor.

Intel Drops Price of Core i9-9900KF in Response to Ryzen 3000edit

It looks like AMD’s Ryzen 3000 series has finally started to put competitive pressure on Intel. The Core i9 9900KF has just had a $50 price cut. It’s now retailing at $439.99 on Amazon and Newegg. This is a small step-down in the price for what is still very much a premium, lower-volume product, and is proof of how close AMD has come in terms of real-world performance.

Five boffins from four US universities have explored AMD’s Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV) technology – and found its defenses can be, in certain circumstances, bypassed with a bit of effort. In a paper [PDF] presented Tuesday at the ACM Asia Conference on Computer and Communications Security in Auckland, New Zealand, computer scientists Jan Werner (UNC Chapel Hill), Joshua Mason (University of Illinois), Manos Antonakakis (Georgia Tech), Michalis Polychronakis (Stony Brook University), and Fabian Monrose (UNC Chapel Hill) detail two novel attacks that can undo the privacy of protected processor enclaves.

NVIDIA Releases GeForce 431.36 WHQL Driversedit

NVIDIA today released GeForce 431.36 WHQL software, which adds support for the new GeForce RTX 2060 Super and RTX 2070 Super graphics cards that went on sale from 9th July. The drivers also improve optimization for “Tom Clancy’s The Division 2,” “Strange Brigade,” and “Metro Exodus.” The drivers add SLI support for “F1 2019.” The drivers address the issue of performance counts appearing over the Windows 10 1903 Start menu (since the Start menu is now its own 3D-accelerated process).

Hiring activities registered 6 percent growth in June led by the IT-software industry, which clocked 26 percent growth.  The Naukri’s job index for June stood at 2,172, up 6 percent compared to June 2018 when it was 2,047.
