AMD AGESA 1.0.0.3ABBA Detailed, Fixes Zen2 Boost Issuesedit

AMD is giving final touches to an AGESA microcode update that fixes the issue of underwhelming Precision Boost behavior on its 3rd generation Ryzen processors. Version ComboAM4 1.0.0.3ABBA is being pushed to motherboard manufacturers to integrate with their UEFI firmware, and one such dispatch to MSI got leaked to the web on ChipHell. Tom’s Hardware grabbed the BIOS as it was compatible with the MEG X570 Creator motherboard they have, and tested the Ryzen 9 3900X and Ryzen 7 3700X with it.

AMD announced the AMD Ryzen 9 3950X way back at E3 2019, a 16-core, 32-thread mainstream processor for release in September. And, we might actually have a clue as to the date this monster processor will hit the streets. The AMD Ryzen 9 3950X showed up on German store Digitec, with a September 30 release date. Back when AMD announced the processor, it was for a September release – so a September 30 release date falls within that window, if only just barely.

Are Intel Apollo Lake processors already dying?edit

Although they were only released in 2016, there are reports that Intel Apollo Lake processors are dying sooner than expected. According to a Product Change Notification (PCN) document, which isn’t currently available online, but reported on by Tom’s Hardware, Intel is planning to replace four of its Celeron and Pentium Apollo Lake processors due to degradation in performance.
