AMD TRX40 Chipset Not Compatible with 1st and 2nd Gen Threadrippersedit
AMD is giving finishing touches to its 3rd generation Ryzen Threadripper HEDT processor lineup, and the first wave of these chips, starting with a 24-core model, will launch alongside the AMD TRX40 chipset. It turns out that the chipset won’t be compatible with 1st and 2nd generation Ryzen Threadripper processors. The upcoming 3rd generation Threadripper chips won’t be backwards-compatible with the AMD X399 chipset, either.

AMD Zen 3 Will Feature New Die Design and Updated SMT Featuresedit
Earlier this week, details about the EPYC Milan and Genoa processors were leaked. EPYC Milan will be based on the AMD Zen 3 microarchitecture while the Genoa series will be based on Zen 4. AMD has officially launched two new processors named Ryzen 9 3900 and Ryzen 5 3500X. Both of these are newest members of the AMD Ryzen 3000 series which now has a total of seven different processors. While both of these offer features that you would expect from the series, these are meant for pre-built systems and can not be purchased separately.

AMD has today launched two new processors in its third-generation Ryzen line-up of desktop CPUs. The Ryzen 9 3900, and the Ryzen 5 3500X are OEM-only chipsets and come built on top of AMD’s 7nm process. The Ryzen 9 3900 comes with 12 cores and 24 threads, with a base clock speed of 3.1GHz and boost clock of up to 4.1GHz. The Ryzen 5 3500X, on the other hand has 6 cores and 12 threads, with a base clock speed of 3.6GHz and a boost clock of up to 4.1GHz.

AMD-made PlayStation 5 Semi-custom Chip Has Ray-tracing Hardware (not a software solution)edit
Sony’s next-generation PlayStation 5 could land under many Christmas trees…in the year 2020, as the company plans a Holiday 2020 launch for the 4K-ready, 8K-capable entertainment system that has a semi-custom chip many times more powerful than the current generation, to support its lofty design goals. By late-2020, Sony calculates that some form of ray-tracing could be a must-have for gaming, and is working with its chip designer AMD to add just that – hardware-acceleration for ray-tracing, and not just something that’s pre-baked or emulated over GPGPU.
