AMD’s Ryzen CPUs have been in the market for more than two years, offering as much as twice the performance compared to Intel CPUs at unbeatable prices. This has resulted in AMD taking the lead from Intel in many of the consumer markets around the world. However, if you look at the company’s performance over the past decade, it has been dismal, to say the least. Ever since Intel’s Core architecture landed, they have essentially been playing catch up.

AMD’s 3rd Gen Ryzen 3000 processors are the most popular consumer CPUs to hit the market in the last decade or so and most of the global markets are seeing a steady rise in team red’s CPU share. The bulk of it, however, seems to be going to Europe. According to a report from The Register, 12% of the 5 million personal computers sold in Europe were AMD powered, up by 7% YoY. This means that in just one year AMD’s desktop sales rose from 355K to 629K, a 200% increase!

AMD “Renoir” APU 3DMark 11 Performance Figures Allegedly Surfaceedit

AMD “Renoir” is the company’s next-generation APU that improves iGPU and CPU performance over the current 12 nm “Picasso” APU. An AMD “Renoir” APU engineering sample running on a “Celadon-RN” platform prototyping board, was allegedly put through 3DMark 11, and its performance numbers surfaced on Reddit, in three data-sets corresponding with three hardware configurations. In the first one, dubbed “config 1,” the CPU is clocked at 1.70 GHz, the iGPU at 1.50 GHz, and the system memory at DDR4-2667. In “config 2,” the CPU runs at 1.80 GHz, and the iGPU and memory frequencies are unknown. In “config 3,” the CPU runs at 2.00 GHz, the iGPU at 1.10 GHz, and the memory at DDR4-2667. Yesterday Nvidia released their GTX 1660Ti Super graphics card. It was a big release, giving a great performance in the reach of budget players. Along with that, a few rumours regarding Nvidia’s next generation of graphics card were also released, the Nvidia Ampere RTX 3000 series. This would be a good move since AMD’s latest Radeon series card seem to be catching up in performance to Nvidia’s cards, and they are also priced significantly lower. The launch of the new Nvidia Ampere cards is expected to be somewhere around the first half of 2020.

Nvidia Unveils GeForce GTX 1660/1650 Super Mid-Range GPUsedit

Nvidia has officially announced the GeForce GTX 1650 Super and GeForce GTX 1660 Super graphics cards for PC gamers. Aimed at the mainstream market, the 1660 Super comes with the same TU116 GPU as the standard GTX 1660, but includes faster, 14Gbps GDDR6 memory, replacing the 8Gbps GDDR5 technology. It also comes with an increased 125Watt TDP to accommodate the increased power needs. It will be interesting to see how the market receives these two cards, which will compete against AMD’s Radeon RX 5500 GPUs that are already in commercial production and are expected to start shipping by the end of the year.

Nvidia’s expands the ‘Super’ GPU line-up, launches GTX 1660 Superedit

Nvidia has expanded its ‘Super’ branded GPU offerings with the launch of the GTX 1660 Super. The new budget-friendly GPU will sit in between GTX 1660 and GTX 1660 Ti. The new GPU will be priced at Rs 20,500 and will offer improved performance as with other ‘Super’ cards. The new card will go on sale immediately, available from third-party OEM’s such as Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Zotac, EVGA, Galax, Palit and others. Besides the new GTX 1660 Super, Nvidia has also announced the GTX 1650 which will go on sale starting November 22. There will be no ‘Founder’s Edition’ cards from Nvidia for the GTX Super line-up.
