IT services provider Cognizant recently said the Personal Data Protection Bill – if enacted in its current form – would impose stringent obligations on the handling of personal data, including certain localization requirements for sensitive data. “Complying with changing regulatory requirements requires us to incur substantial costs, exposes us to potential regulatory action or litigation, and may require changes to our business practices in certain jurisdictions, any of which could materially adversely affect our business operations and operating results,” the IT firm said in a recent article in Economic Times.

Samsung Electronics Co Ltd’s semiconductor manufacturing division has won a contract to make new Qualcomm Inc 5G chips using its most advanced chip-making technology, two sources familiar with the matter said, boosting the Korean firm’s efforts to gain market share against rival Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. Samsung will fabricate at least some of Qualcomm’s X60 modem chips, which will connect devices such as smart phones to 5G wireless data networks.

Microsoft has now listed the Surface Pro 7, Surface Laptop 3, and Surface Pro X in India. The three devices are listed on the company’s official India site, and the Surface Pro 7 is already on sale on Amazon India and Flipkart. The Surface Pro X and the Surface Laptop 3 are listed to go on sale in India soon, but their exact pricing and availability details haven’t been mentioned yet. To recall, the Surface Pro 7, Surface Laptop 3, and Surface Pro X laptops were all first unveiled in October at Microsoft’s October 2019 Event.

To further tap engineering talent in India, Microsoft on Monday announced the launch of its third India Development Centre (IDC) in Noida, after opening two such premier engineering and innovation hubs in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The IDC-NCR will open opportunities for thousands of engineers, said the company, with plans to expand to a full-fledged development centre similar to the other two facilities.
