Since the launch of the Ryzen 4000 mobile processors, everyone has hailed the new APUs for their power and performance under the 15W TDP envelope. Shifting to the 7nm architecture has allowed to maximize its performance and beefing up the cores without any efficiency issues, thanks to Zen 2 architecture. Even though we are yet to get hands-on with the laptops running on these APUs but we have leaks suggesting the performance of them and they are impressive.

AMD Won’t Be Using 7nm With EUV in Zen 3 and RDNA2 (PROACTIVE)edit
AMD had revealed that Zen 3 will be based on 7nm+ architecture. However, in its Financial Analyst Day 2020, AMD dropped the “+” from 7nm in their presentation slides. While this might seem surprising, AMD has a pretty viable yet vague clarification for the same. AMD says that it dropped the “+” to keep the nomenclature in line with TSMC’s 7nm process nomenclature.

Apart from offering extra cores at affordable prices, AMD also has a node advantage. Intel, on the other hand, is not looking to switch to 7nm anytime soon. However, the company is set to launch its next-generation 7nm node using EUV technology by 2021 end. The upcoming Tiger Lake is slated to be based on 10nm+. While speaking of the 10nm node process, Intel claimed that the 10nm process is less profitable than 22nm.

Security researchers from Positive Technologies have found a new flaw in the latest Intel processors launches in the past five years. These Intel processors are likely to be powering your Windows and Apple MacBook laptops. The flaw is said to fail the hardware-based encryption and DRM protections and can go unnoticed by traditional anti-virus software. Also mentioned on the website’s blog post is that Intel’s latest 10th-gen processors are not vulnerable to this flaw. “This vulnerability jeopardizes everything Intel has done to build the root of trust and lay a solid security foundation on the company’s platforms,” said Mark Ermolov from Positive Technologies.
