AMD Navi 10, Navi 21 (RDNA 2) and Xbox Series X GPU “Arden” Source Code Stolen and Leakededit

The source code for AMD’s Navi 10, Navi 21 and the Arden GPU have been stolen and leaked on GitHub. Although AMD was quick to react and issue DCMA takedowns of these packets, it’s highly likely that there are still copies out in the wild. To make matters worse, the hacker who posted the source code of these RDNA GPUs has claimed that if no one buys the code from her, she will leak everything. The three GPUs whose source code was posted on GitHub include Navi 10, Navi 21 and Arden.

AMD announced that the 2nd Gen AMD EPYC processors and AMD Radeon Instinct MI25 GPUs are extending performance advantages through Microsoft Azure NVv4 virtual machines (VMs). These VMs, which are now generally available to customers in South Central U.S. and Europe West Azure regions, provide a virtual desktop experience, enabling customers to power remote visualization services and virtual desktops in the cloud to support entry-level workers, as well as graphics-intensive visualization workloads like CAD and simulations.

Already AMD has launched the revolutionary Ryzen 4000 series mobile processors and Intel is wary of the fact. Intel is expected to make the CPU available to OEMs before the end of Q1 2020 for a launch in Q2 to give competition to the Ryzen 4000 APU laptops. NVIDIA Expands Free Access to GPU Virtualization Software to Support Remote Workersedit

NVIDIA announced that with many companies needing to quickly support employees who are now working remotely, it has expanded its free, 90-day virtual GPU software evaluation from 128 to 500 licenses. With vGPU software licenses, companies can use their on-premises NVIDIA GPUs to provide accelerated virtual infrastructure so people can work and collaborate from anywhere. Companies can also temporarily re purpose NVIDIA GPUs being used on other projects to support their remote workers.

NVIDIA expands free virtual GPU software to support remote workingedit

NVIDIA announced that it is expanding its free virtual GPU software (vGPU) evaluation to support those working from home amid COVID-19 pandemic. In an official press release, NVIDIA said that it is the free vGPU software evaluation will now be expanded from 128 to 500 licenses for 90 days at no cost. NVIDIA is expanding the free licensing to all three tiers of vGPUs including NVIDIA Grid, NVIDIA Quadro Virtual Data Center Workstation and NVIDIA Virtual Compute Server software.

Computer chip makers seek U.S. permission to work during pandemicedit

A group representing major United States semiconductor companies on Wednesday said it was working with federal officials to make clear to state and local officials overseeing lockdowns that chip companies are essential businesses that should continue operations. In a blog post, the Semiconductor Industry Association, which represents chipmakers with major U.S. factories such as Intel Corp and Micron Technology Inc, said it was working with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to refine the guidance sent to state and local officials last week.

In a bid to focus on security updates, Microsoft is pausing all optional non security releases for supported versions of Windows and its server products. The tech giant is particularly suspending C and D updates, which are usually released during the 3rd and 4th week of each month, respectively. These include non-security improvements and fixes. But the changes don’t go into effect until May, so we can still expect a few last optional non security releases next month.
