AMD’s Navi GPUs mark the company’s return to the high-performance graphics card market after a multiple-year absence. The Radeon RX 5700 and 5700 XT offer near-RTX 2060 Super and 2070 Super level performance while costing markedly less. One thing that hasn’t changed in over a decade is AMD’s reference cooler. It’s still the same blower-style cooler that runs hot and looks like a cinder-block. As such, we recommend everyone to get a third party aftermarket Radeon RX 5700 card. The best ones are the Sapphire Pulse, XFX Thicc and the Powercolor Red Devil.

Overall, the Ryzen 9 3900X is the undoubted performance king. Offering 90% of the gaming performance as the Core i9-9900K and being more than 50% faster in everything else, the 3900X is the clear winner here. However, which chip you should opt for largely depends on your workloads. If you are building a gaming PC that will be used exclusively for high frame-rate gaming, then the Core i9 is a no-brainer. However, if you’re a content creator or your workloads are more versatile than just gaming, then the Ryzen 9 3900X is the sensible choice.

Laptops powered by the new Intel 10th gen Comet Lake-H processors have now started to become available and we’ve been steadily receiving quite a few of them in our test labs. Previously, we have exclusively posted some first benchmarks of Comet Lake-H that we received from industry sources, which showed Intel continuing to have a small yet appreciable lead in single-core performance compared to AMD Ryzen 4000 H-series chips.

AMD’s Ryzen 4000U was released in January with the Ryzen 7 4800U being the highest-spec model. At that time AMD did not give any hints on their Ryzen 9 chip. It seems the Ryzen 7 4800U is not anymore the fastest and highest-spec model. Recently, Twitter user @TUM_APISAK posted the leak about AMD Ryzen 9 chips.

The worldwide shipments of PC declined 12.3 percent decline in the first quarter of 2019, its sharpest decline, at 51.6 million units due to the coronavirus outbreak, which resulted in disruptions to both the supply and demand of PCs, as per a Gartner report. The top three vendors’ market share remained unchanged from the previous quarter and accounted for 65.6% of PC shipments in the first quarter of 2020, an improvement from just over 60% in the first quarter of 2019.

Both the GPUs are quite competitive in the budget segment. The RX 5500 XT and the GTX 1650 Super based GPUs are similarly priced as well, however, we are finding it quite difficult to obtain retail stock for the RX 5500 XT in the Indian market whereas the GTX 1650 Super cards are available in plenty from different manufacturers. AMD’s cards clearly have the advantage of having 8 GB SKUs available as well for about 2.5K more than the 4GB SKUs and we do see that making a difference in a few video games.

NVIDIA has just released new drivers optimized for Minecraft’s RTX experience. The new GeForce update will let players engage in the game’s raytraced beta. Minecraft RTX has been in the works for quite some time now. We first reported on the game’s proposed update way back in August. Since then, NVIDIA has also revealed that the game will also support DLSS 2.0. With these new updates, the world’s most popular game is sure to get even more players interested.
