AMD’s decision to drop Zen 3 support from the B450 boards has drawn a lot of flak from enthusiasts and media alike. Earlier, multiple partners had claimed that the 4th Gen Ryzen CPUs would support the budget B450 platform, prompting many users to upgrade to a 3rd Gen SKU. The general idea was to leverage the power of the Zen 2 chips till Zen 3 got here, and then upgrade a second time to the latter without buying a new board.

With days, newer AMD Ryzen 4000 powered laptops are popping up on Geekbench but the availability is poor maybe because of the COVID-19 and AMD’s 7nm mobile APU shortage. Still we got hold of the upcoming Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 that is seen to house the new AMD Ryzen 7 4800U. The APU is the best mobile APU of AMD with 8 cores and 16 threads with 1.8 GHz base clock speed and up to to 4.2 GHz boost clock speed. The Zen 2 microarcitecture helps the APU to give incredible performance even having low TDP of 15 W.

Researchers from Intel and Microsoft have joined forces to study the use of deep learning for malware threat detection in a project that first converts malware into images. The basis for this study is the observation that if malware samples are turned into grayscale images, the textural and structural patterns can be used to effectively classify them as either benign or malicious, as well as cluster malicious samples into respective threat families, Microsoft said.

Intel and a Taiwanese company are talking to the Trump administration about building new semiconductor plants in the United States amid concern about relying on suppliers in Asia for chips used in a wide variety of electronics. A spokesman for Intel, the biggest American chip maker, said Sunday that the company is in discussions with the Defense Department about improving domestic technology sources. Spokesman William Moss said Santa Clara, California-based Intel is well-positioned to work with the government “to operate a U.S.-owned commercial foundry.”
