Qualcomm Ventures has agreed to invest up to Rs 730 crore ($97 million) in Reliance Industries Ltd’s digital unit, Jio Platforms Ltd, the Indian energy-to-telecom conglomerate said. The investment arm of chipmaker Qualcomm Inc. will get a 0.15% stake in Jio Platforms, Reliance said in a statement. The investment will help Jio Platforms in its initiative to roll out advanced 5G infrastructure and services for Indian customers, Reliance said.

U.S. semiconductor maker Analog Devices Inc is in advanced talks to acquire Maxim Integrated Products Inc, an industry peer that has a market capitalization of $17.1 billion, people familiar with the matter said on Sunday. The acquisition would expand Analog Devices’ offerings in applications such as autonomous vehicles and 5G telecommunications networks. It would also present revenue and cost synergies, given the common focus of the two companies on integrated circuits.

At its Google For India event, held virtually on Monday, the tech major announced new initiatives for driving education in India. The company will partner Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to digitise classrooms across the country. Google said it will work with CBSE Skill Education and Training by the end of 2020 to allow close to one million teachers in 22,000 schools in India to “deliver blended learning that combines the classroom approach with online learning.”

Google declared that it will pump in $10 billion (around Rs 75,000 crore) in India over the next 5-7 years. While named the Digitization Fund, this amount is earmarked for Google’s operational expansion, as well as investments into other companies. The investment follows commitments made by other US tech majors Facebook and Amazon, earlier this year. “We’ll do this through a mix of equity investments, partnerships, and operational, infrastructure and ecosystem investments,” said Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai through a video address.
