AMD All Set to Launch A520 Motherboards: Up to 64 GB 4600MHz RAM, Turbo M.2, WiFi AC 3168edit

MSI has reportedly announced its AM4 A520 motherboard lineup for AMD’s lower-end Ryzen lineup. Succeeding the A320 platform, these boards won’t extend support from PCIe 2.0 to PCIe 3.0. You won’t get any Gen 4 or overclocking support here, as it’s truly the bottom of the barrel. There are still ample I/O options for the mainstream user with support for PCIe x16 discrete graphics cards, NVMe (PCIe Gen3) SSDs, USB 3.1 Gen2 and memory speeds as high as 4600MHz (A-XMP profile support included).

AMD Ryzen 3 3300X vs 3600X vs 3700X vs 3900X Gaming Performance (PROACTIVE)edit

As you can see from the above benchmarks, the situation hasn’t changed by leaps and bounds. The quad-core Ryzen 3 3300X is still more than enough in most titles. In fact, if you’re looking to play at 60Hz or even 75Hz, the 3300X will easily satisfy your needs. As for scaling, most games show a notable increase in going from the quad-core 3300X to the hex-core 3600X. After that, although, there is a marginal increase, it’s hardly worth it considering the price gap between the various chips. Certain titles like Metro Exodus literally show zero scaling across the four processors.

HP Pavilion Gaming 16 review: Challenging the status quoedit

The configuration ensures that the Pavilion Gaming 16 can play most of your high-end games at medium to high settings with decent frame rates. Single-core performance is really good for a laptop of its class. Multithreaded performance is also mostly good but if you’re looking to get this laptop for content creation, an AMD equivalent is the way to go right now. Basic day-to-day tasks are handled well by the Pavilion Gaming 16 though which means it’s a capable machine for basic work from home scenarios. Its thin and light form factor means it’s easy to carry around, which is always a nice thing to have.
