International Business Machines Corp announced on Monday a new processor chip for data centers that it says will be able to handle three times the workload of its predecessor. The IBM-designed Power10 chip will be manufactured by Samsung Electronics Co Ltd and is meant for use by businesses inside data centers, IBM said. The chip will use Samsung’s 7-nanometer chip manufacturing process, which is similar to the 7-nanometer technology that Advanced Micro Devices Inc uses to have its chips made by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd.

Intel plans to unveil ‘something big’ at its virtual event on September 2. Ahead of its launch, the chipmaker has given a first look of the next-generation Tiger Lake processors and Xe graphics. The launch of Tiger Lake chips is an important one for Intel considering its delay in launching the 7nm-based chips. Intel’s biggest competitor, AMD, has already launched 7nm Ryzen 4000 chips that are far more powerful and efficient than the 10nm-based chips.

Alphabet Inc’s Google has a better chance than Apple Inc at defeating Fortnite video game maker Epic Games in court over its allegations the two companies breached anti-trust laws. Epic sued Google and Apple separately in U.S. district court on Thursday, accusing the companies of using their dominance to charge app developers an “exorbitant” 30% fee on sales and impose other restrictions that benefit their own businesses.
