ASRock Brings Ryzen 5000 Support to X370 Taichi Boards along with Renoir AM4edit

ASRock has gone ahead and released a BIOS supporting the Ryzen 5000 processors on its X370 Taichi motherboard. Although this is an alpha release, keep in mind that official support for the 300-series boards was never promised for Vermeer. The BIOS version P6.11 that supports the new Zen 3 chips was released yesterday. Considering the alpha status, it’s likely going to contain bugs and/or instabilities and as such, isn’t recommended for permanent use just yet.

AMD Big Navi Reference Cards are Reportedly Being Discontinued (Update)edit

According to a report from French outlet, Cowcotland, AMD’s Big Navi reference cards are already being discontinued and future shipments of all three GPUs will come from the AIB partners. Even the Radeon RX 6900 XT that was just released yesterday won’t be getting any further shipments of the reference model. The outlet further reports that French retailers were generally getting less than 50 units of the RX 6900 XT, so you can basically consider it to be a collectors’ item.

NVIDIA launched the GeForce GTX 1650 Super to address the shortcomings of the vanilla 1650. The Super was faster than both the RX 570 as well as the GTX 1060. AMD’s answer was the Radeon RX 5500 XT. Initially, the 8GB variant was priced the same as the GeForce GTX 1660, making it a hard pass, while the 4GB model costed the same as the GTX 1650 Super. Recently, however, AMD has started phasing out the latter in favor of the former with reduced pricing.
