According to the latest market data from Mercury Research, AMD has successfully returned to its pre-Bulldozer market state (by revenue) with a share of 16.9% in the overall x86 processor market. The chipmaker still controls less than a quarter of the PC and server market, although data from other surveys such as Steam, Mindfactory, and PassMark (yes, they only represent the enthusiast segment I know) show a much higher share for the underdog. The reason being that these figures represent the share by revenue while those are based on units sold.

AMD’s Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV) is one of the key highlights of AMD’s Epyc processors. It basically offers protection to virtual machines in untrusted environments through memory and register encryption. By leveraging a separate AMD Secure Processor (AMD-SP) to execute sensitive operations, it makes attacks on the primary x86 cores less effective. In contrast to Intel’s Software Guard Extensions (SGX), which focus on protecting parts of an application, SEV protects full VMs.

Lenovo logs 31% growth in India in June Quarteredit
PC major Lenovo registered approximately $462 million in revenue for all group businesses in India for the June quarter, representing year-on-year growth of 31.3 percent, as demand for digital devices to maintain work-life balance continued to surge amid the second Covid wave, the company said on Wednesday. In India, Lenovo saw steady growth throughout the past fiscal year and delivered an exceptionally strong performance this past quarter.

Russia’s PC maker starts mass production of PC’s made using domestic hardware and softwareedit
According to the latest sources, a major PC maker from Russia named iRU has recently started the volume production of systems based on key domestic components.
