Intel has teased its future mobile mega-thread CPU, with Intel partners already getting a new platform codenamed “Alder Lake-HX.” The new Alder Lake-HX test sample CPUs are labelled “8+8,” indicating that the new Alder Lake-HX chip being tested includes 8 Performance cores and 8 Efficient cores (thus, 16 cores in total). Alder Lake-P and Alder Lake-U processors are currently limited to 14 cores, but the new Alder Lake-HX chips appear to be aimed against AMD’s Zen 3-based Ryzen 6000 HX series CPUs.
