AMD adopts Qualcomm’s new Wifi 6E chip to challenge Intel in enterprise laptopsedit

Two US-based chipmakers, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Qualcomm, have partnered to take on Intel’s remote management platform, vPro, as well as its Wifi 6E offerings – in a potential move to take on the enterprise segment. The latest collaboration will see AMD use Qualcomm’s FastConnect connectivity chips on its Ryzen processors for laptops, which will use the 6GHz wireless band in multi-band configurations to produce faster internet speeds and greater bandwidth – and offer enterprise devices better remote management.

AMD’s Next-Gen B650 and X670 Chipsets Reportedly Lack PCIe Gen 5 Support; To be Enabled Through CPUedit

AMD’s next-gen 600 series chipsets may lack support for PCIe Gen 5 and instead leverage a Gen 4.0 x4 interconnect with the CPU. This is in direct contrast to Intel’s latest 600 chipset family released alongside Alder Lake which has a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot for even the lowest-end H610 boards. It’s unclear why AMD would decide to omit Gen 5 support from its first AM5 boards, or if this leak is actually legit.
