According to AICTE chairman Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, the number of BE/B.Tech seats in engineering colleges across India may fall by 50,000 or more in the upcoming academic year, 201920. Earlier, 16.5 lakh engineering seats were available across 10,000 engineering colleges and now it was decreased to 14.5 lakhs, He said. Only 8 to 9 lakhs students are admitted now in the engineering colleges, he added.
