Amazon eyes $5 bn in exports from Indiaedit

Amazon’s major sale event, Prime Day, saw an increase of 69% in number of sellers, while Cyber Monday and Black Friday saw an increase of 30% each in seller numbers.According to the Digest, north India exported watches, cameras, pet products, outdoor and home entertainment products, while south India sold board games, shoes, home entertainment, sports gear, camera bags and the like. West India exported arts and crafts, luggage, videos and DVDs, personal care appliances while east India contributed watches, furniture, personal care appliances, tools and electronics.New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston are the top American cities from where Indian exporters have been receiving maximum orders.

Amazon’s India unit sees 56% rise in export merchantsedit

Amazon.com Inc’s India unit saw a 56 percent rise in the number of local merchants selling to international markets, hitting export sales of over $1 billion, the company said on Tuesday.Indian merchants were exporting more than 140 million products on Amazon’s app and website, with cumulative sales expected to top $5 billion in the next four years, country head Amit Agarwal told reporters in Bengaluru. Amazon launched its Global Selling Program in 2015, as part of its efforts to get more small-and-medium sized vendors on board. Vendor consolidation is key in India, which is among the Seattle-based company’s top growth markets.
