Despite the recent trend of looking inward and competing against oneself, healthy competition still remains a great way for companies to build faster, innovate better and scale higher. Just ask Pepperfry CEO Ambareesh Murthy. A year ago, when Swedish furniture giant IKEA launched in India, Murthy was asked how the entry would affect Pepperfry’s operation. He replied, “Anything which increases the degree of excitement in the furniture category will benefit everybody in the category, and definitely the largest players.”
