AMD Ryzen 5 3400G Who needs a discrete GPU? (PROACTIVE)edit
Its been a couple of months since the new Zen2-based AMD 3rd Gen Ryzen processors have launched and AMD has been having a gala time given all the worldwide sales reports we’ve been seeing in these past few months. One of the fastest moving SKUs in any processor family are the ones which cater to the budget segment and have an Integrated Graphics Processor. The AMD Ryzen 5 3400G is one such processor. Even though it’s part of the 3000 series, it’s actually a Zen+ 2nd Gen processor. Blame AMD marketing for the odd naming scheme.

AMD, a chipmaking underdog, is having its dayedit
DAVID, H E OF the spat with Goliath, is an overused corporate analogy. But it is hard to think of a more appropriate one for Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). On October 29th the American chipmaking tiddler reported its third-quarter results. Lisa Su, its boss, declared herself extremely pleased. No wonder. At $ 1.8bn, revenue was the highest since 2005. AMD predicted that next quarters figures would be equally perky, up 48% on the previous year to $ 2. lbn. Its share price has risen 15 -fold since 2015. AMD is more important to the chip business than its diminutive stature suggests.

GIGABYTE Readies Several Radeon RX 5500 Series Graphics Cardsedit
GIGABYTE has filed regulatory filings with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) for several Radeon RX 5500-series graphics cards, including as many as six models based on the range-topping RX 5500 XT. The filing confirms that the RX 5500 XT is real, and that all six models from GIGABYTE feature 8 GB of GDDR6 memory. The RX 5500 XT, or Navi 10 XTX is rumored to feature 24 RDNA compute units, making up 1,536 stream processors, and a 128-bit wide GDDR6 memory interface, holding 8 GB of memory. AMD possibly hopes to capture sub-$250 price points with this SKU, given that NVIDIA preempted it with the $230 GeForce GTX 1660 Super.

NVIDIA Partners Order Fresh GeForce RTX 2070 Chips as they Expect RX 5700 XT Inventories to Slumpedit
NVIDIA’s add-in card partners are ordering fresh stocks of GeForce RTX 2070 graphics chips even as the performance-segment of the GPU market has changed with AMD’s introduction of its Radeon RX 5700 series “Navi,” according to a Gamers Nexus report citing sources among NVIDIA partners. NVIDIA partners are expecting a slump in AMD’s RX 5700 series graphics card inventories, particularly that of the RX 5700 XT, to create a price-point at which to sell the RTX 2070. NVIDIA partners expect RX 5700 XT inventories to run slim as supply of the 7 nm “Navi 10” chips from foundry-partner TSMC may not satiate the SKU’s reportedly high demand.

Apple MacBook Pro 16 Likely To Be Powered by AMD 5500M GPUedit
Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro 16 seems to be getting a fair share of attention before its official announcement. After a bunch of leaks have already surfaced, a new one now hints at the graphic processing unit the laptop might use. An anonymous tipster reported MacRumors that the MacBook Pro 16 might actually be equipped with the AMD Radeon RX 5300M or 5500M GPU. A contributor to the website also found the mention of “Radeon RX 5500/5500M” in a string within macOS Catalina 10.15.1 code. This shouldn’t come as a surprise as Apple has exclusively used AMD GPUs since 2015. Using the latest AMD mobile GPUs would only make sense for the latest MacBook Pro. But since this isn’t confirmed yet, ...

Samsung Exynos in trouble as major layoffs announcededit
When it comes to mobile processors, Qualcomm may be the household name but it’s far from being the only one. In addition to long-time rival MediaTek, there’s also Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin, Samsung’s Exynos, and, now, Apple’s A chips. One of those, however, may be changing significantly and perhaps not for the better. Samsung has just posted a letter that reveals it will be laying off 290 employees at its R&D office in Austin, Texas that may see the end of Samsung’s custom ARM cores used in its Exynos chips. The situation with ARM processors is a bit more complicated than on x86 with Intel and AMD.

Dell XPS 13 7390 Review: By Far The Best Windows Ultrabook That Money Can Buyedit
The Dell XPS 13 has been regarded as one of the best Windows notebook for years, particularly if you wanted the perfect blend of slimness, style and performance. One can even argue that it is the best ultrabook that one should buy today, even though the term ultrabooks is no longer in vogue, the XPS 13 simply ticks off the checklist because it offers an excellent display, powerful hardware options along with decent keyboard and battery life. We already saw an XPS 13 refresh earlier this year, but now we have a ...
