Testing Eco Mode on the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X: 99% Performance for 80% Power (PROACTIVE)edit

AMD launched the Ryzen 9 3950X a few days back and along with a few new features for the entire Matisse lineup. One of these is the low-power “Eco Mode” that reportedly reduces the power draw by a notch while barely having an impact on performance. That is what we’ll be testing today. We’ll compare the power draw of the Ryzen 7 3700X in normal mode and eco mode as well as the resultant performance in games and popular benchmarking applications like Cinebench and Indigo.

New Security Flaws Found in Intel Chipsedit

A team of researchers discovered serious security vulnerabilities in chips made by Intel and Geneva-based semiconductor manufacturer STMicroelectronics that has affected billions of users globally. The two vulnerabilities, which have now been addressed, would have allowed hackers to employ timing side -channel attacks to steal cryptographic keys that are supposed to remain safely inside the chips.

Apple Macbook Pro 16-inch with revamped keyboard, new features set to launch soonedit

Apple Inc. plans to debut a new MacBook Pro laptop with a larger screen and revamped keyboard as soon as Wednesday, according to people familiar with the situation. This will be the first major update since the MacBook Pro line was redesigned three years ago. Apple is moving from a 15-inch screen to a higher-resolution 16-inch screen, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing unannounced products. The display will likely appeal to video and photo editors, gamers and software developers.

Microsoft Releases Windows 10 November 2019 Update (1909)edit

Microsoft late Tuesday released its second major update to Windows 10 for the year, the Windows 10 November 2019 Update (version 1909). This update beats conventions in that is “minor” in comparison to the Windows 10 May 2019 (1903) Update, in that Microsoft didn’t change too many under-the-hood components, but updated the operating system’s user-interface. For example, the operating system retains the older version’s driver model.
