AMD Working on the Radeon RX 5500 XT and 5600 XTedit

When NVIDIA launched the GTX 16 series Super cards last month, it essentially cemented its position in the budget graphics card segment after taking care of matters in the top-end space. AMD has got two options in the midrange and upper midrange space in the form of the RX 5700 and the 5700 XT but that’s about it. The Polaris lineup in the budget segment is seriously disadvantaged compared to NVIDIA’s Turing offerings. According to Videocardz, team red is looking to fix it with two major product launches in the coming weeks.

AMD to Unveil Radeon RX 5500 XT and RX 5600 Series in Decemberedit

AMD is expected to bolster its mid-thru-performance segments of graphics cards with a few new product announcements in December. To begin with, the Radeon RX 5500 XT, which maxes out the 24 RDNA compute units on the “Navi 14” silicon, could see an early-December announcement, possibly ahead of the mid-December release of the RX 5500 to the AIB (add-in board) retail channel. Next up, is the new RX 5600 series, which enables AMD to capture $200-$300 price-points, competing with the likes of the GeForce GTX 1660 Super and GTX 1660 Ti.

AMD X570-successor to be Third-Party Sourcededit

AMD X570 chipset is the industry’s first PC platform core-logic to support PCI-Express gen 4.0, but has proven to be expensive and hot. Its 600-series chipset successor will be third-party sourced much like its 400-series predecessor, according to a MyDrivers report citing sources in the motherboard industry. AMD is reportedly sourcing its 500-series mid-range chipset, the B550, from ASMedia.

Intel to hire 1,000 people at new Hyderabad unitedit

Intel plans to hire more than 1,000 people at its new facility in Hyderabad, the chipmaker’s second engineering centre after the one in Bengaluru, the company said. The unit, which employs 400 people with emerging technology skills, would “foster entrepreneurship and a research mindset”, Intel said. The centre will contribute to computing and communications technology innovations that will address critical challenges in a data-centric world, and advance Intel’s engagements with the city’s technology ecosystem.
