In a statement, NVIDIA board partner Inno3D has claimed that its GeForce RTX 3080 graphics cards don’t suffer from crashes and instability issues as many AIB partners. Intel Corporation has roped in Safroadu (Saf) Yeboah-Amankwah to lead its Global Strategy Office as Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, effective November 1. He will report to CEO Bob Swan. “A profound evolution in computing is opening a much larger opportunity with implications for every aspect of our business,” said Swan. He added, “Saf has strong experience in strategy and international markets, a deep technical background, and he knows Intel well. Intel on Tuesday made it official to bring its 11th Gen Core processors codenamed Tiger Lake to Chromebooks. The 11th Gen Intel Core processors come with Iris Xe graphics and the Intel Evo platform for thin and light laptops. “10th Gen Intel Core-based Chromebooks continue to deliver leadership performance and experiences, and our internal benchmarking shows that we will extend this leadership with 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics,” the company said in a statement.

NVIDIA has issued a statement (a Q&A more like) to address the shortage of its newly launched RTX 3080 graphics cards. As we’ve already reported, both the official NVIDIA store as well as AIB partners are facing massive shortages of Ampere GPUs. Although there have been assurances from NVIDIA saying that the FE cards will be back in stock next week, gamers are skeptical. Zotac recently claimed that it was swamped by as many as 20,000 pre-orders on Amazon alone and the lack of time provided (by NVIDIA) ahead of launch has only made it worse.

As per an Intel spokesperson, the company has received the green-light from the US department of defense to supply certain products to Chinese giant Huawei. This announcement comes amidst the worsening of US-China ties with Huawei finding itself in the crosshairs of the trade war. AMD has secured another 13,000 units at TSMC’s 7nm capacity, thanks to Mediatek bowing out as it could no longer supply Huawei due to the latest rounds of US regulations. NVIDIA’s supply problems with Ampere and the GeForce RTX 3080 have led to a difficult supply situation: GeForce RTX 3080 stock is currently not available through official channels, with scalpers having bought out NVIDIA and AIB supplies in most regions. This has resulted in eBay pricing for the card going up to several thousand dollars, as scalpers try to make a profit off impatient gamers. Overnight, however, it appears that Ampere fans decided to strike back. Competing listings for the GeForce RTX 3080 “Paper Edition” (usually a drawing of the RTX 3080) are drowning out scalper listings.

The sale of the Nvidia RTX 3080 graphics card went live on September 17 at 9 AM ET and within a second the product got sold out from all the major online stores in the US. Very few people were able to confirm their order and most of the limited stock was bought out by the scalpers. Next on eBay, the scalpers started to sell the card more than the actual price of the Graphics card. The sticker price of the RTX 3080 is $699 but on eBay, it was getting sold for the price range varying from $1,000-$2500. It was hard to tell whether the listings were legit or not.

Moving on, the Acer Swift 5 that I’m reviewing here comes with the Intel Core i7-1065G7 10th gen processor. The processor comes with a base frequency of 1.5Ghz and can run a maximum frequency of 3.98Ghz. I ran a couple of benchmarks to test the performance of the laptop. The Acer Swift 5 scored 1260 in the single-core test and 3656 on the multi-core test on Geekbench. Based on this score, it is safe to assume that the Acer Swift 5 is capable of handling nearly all tasks an office-going professional would need to run.

The Scar G532 is a robust-looking machine with LED bars at the bottom edges of the base. The LED mechanism can be turned off but it certainly grabs the attention. The laptop is on the heavier side (2.57 kg) and not meant to be lugged around. The FHD 240Hz display offers 100% sRGB colour output, which makes gaming on this a true delight. Colours look vibrant, image quality is sharp and game graphics look life-like. After playing a lot of FIFA on it, we can safely say it is one of the better displays in a gaming laptop.

We reviewed the Intel variant running the Core i7 H-series 10th gen processor with Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 1650Ti graphics, 16 GB RAM and 1 TB. This particular model is priced at ?1,20,999. The variant with the more powerful GeForce RTX 2070 and up to 1 TB SSD costs ?1,70,999. The Ryzen 7 3700X is a great processor to pair with a high-end GPU. As most of the heavy lifting is done by the GPU itself, one can get away with a much lower. Since the Ampere cards are not yet out for benchmarks, let’s compare the Turing equivalent 2080Ti for the processor. The bottleneck delta observed was around 5% which is negligible in real-world performance. Also, the 3700X has a great overclocking potential which makes it on par with its elder sibling – Ryzen 7 3800X at a lower price and much lower TDP (3800X – 105W).

Listening to Pivot podcast earlier this week, I came across this quote from Professor Scott Galloway, “Nvidia is the most impressive company you have never heard of”. Up until last week, I would have argued that you could make a stronger case for this statement to be applied to ARM Holdings. Licences can be liberal or stringent regarding the degree to which they can be modified and who they are sold to. For instance, Intel sells its designs to a few select vendors, such as AMD.

It appears that the Ampere graphics cards will indeed be potent mining chips. Intel has launched yet another 8 core i7 for the 45W H-series mobile market in the form of the Core i7-10870H. Till now, the Comet Lake-H family had two Core i7 chips, namely the 10750H and the 10875H with six and eight cores, respectively. The newly released Core i7-10870H is almost identical to the 10875H with the same count core and L3 cache (8 and 16MB). The only difference is with respect to the boost clocks. While the 10870H has a max boost clock of 5GHz, the 10875H boosts 100MHz higher to 5.1GHz.

With the acquisition of Arm, NVIDIA is looking to further expand its foothold in the PC and Data Center markets. As per figures presented by the company CEO, Jensen Huang, by 2023, NVIDIA will have a TAM of $250 billion, with the PC and mobile segments featuring the bulk of it at $95 billion. Interestingly, NVIDIA mentions game consoles and smartphones in this segment as well. The last SoC from Team Green to be featured in the mobile space was the Tegra K1 and to a lesser extent the X1 which also powers the Nintendo Switch.

The specifications of Colorful’s RTX 3080 lineup has surfaced, featuring a bunch of over-engineered models, most notably the Neptune OC and Vulcan X OC. Both these variants of the RTX 3080 have a TDP of 370W, 50W up from the official 320W power spec, and feature an insane power supply with up to 26 VRM phases.  There are 22 phases feeding the GPU core and four phases for the memory,. more than twice as much as their Turing predecessors. These graphics cards are 323mm (that’s slightly more than a feet!) long and have a triple slot width.

AMD has now done the same and showcased their upcoming RX 6000 series GPU based on the RDNA architecture. This is the first official look at the upcoming AMD GPU and the company claims that it comes with a new cooler design. In a blogpost on Medium, Intel has inadvertently confirmed the existence of 8 core Tiger Lake-H CPUs. While talking about the new non-inclusive L3 cache, Boyd Phelps, VP of the CCG group explained that each core in Tiger Lake had access to 12MB of LLC for quad-core chips and up to 24MB for 8 core dies. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of octal-core Tiger Lake parts leveraging Intel’s 10nm++ node, but it’s the first time it has been officially mentioned by an Intel executive.

AMD has just shared the first look at its upcoming Radeon RX 6000 series of graphics cards. The only real information we got about it was from dissecting the information revealed about the upcoming consoles. Researchers from Amsterdam have shared details about a new Spectre-style speculative execution vulnerability in the latest AMD and Intel processors. Dubbed “Blindside”, it allows attackers to “hack blind” in the Spectre era. That is, given a simple buffer overflow in the kernel and no additional info leak vulnerability, BlindSide can mount BROP-style attacks in the speculative execution domain to repeatedly probe and derandomize the kernel address space, craft arbitrary memory read gadgets, and enable reliable exploitation.

In comparison, the RTX 3080 and 3090 feature 19Gbps of GDDR6X memory which is quite a bit higher than this. The latter seems unlikely and if true, it put NVIDIA’s Ampere based Quadro at a disadvantage compared to AMD competitors, most notably the Radeon Pro VII which leverages HBM2 memory for a total bandwidth of 1024GB/s. Of course, this could just be an underclocked engineering/verification sample, so we can’t be too sure just yet.

As per the latest reports from JPMorgan, TSMC will manufacture Intel CPUs using its 5nm EUV process in the first half of 2022. That is right after Sapphire Rapids and before the launch of the Granite Rapids-based processors, with the latter featuring the now delayed Intel 7nm process. The report alleges that Intel’s R&D team is already finalizing the tape-out for these processors, well ahead of schedule. As per the well-reputed Twitter source on Ampere, kopite7kimi, NVIDIA will soon be launching its next 30 series GPU, namely the RTX 3060 Ti (or Super) with up to 4,864 shaders (FP32) and 8GB of GDDR6 memory. The conclusion is a no brainer. The Radeon RX 5600 XT wins by a decent margin. On top of that, it’s cheaper too. EVGA’s RTX 2060 KO Edition is only available in the US and is now going for $329. The Ashes Escalation benchmark of NVIDIA’s Ampere flagship, the GeForce RTX 3080 has surfaced, giving us an idea of the performance of the RTX 30 series GPUs in real-world gaming workloads. In this benchmark, the RTX 3080 was paired with an Intel Core i9-9900K and tested at the 4K Crazy preset using the DX12 API. The result was an average of 88.3 FPS, and a score of 8,700 points.

It seems that AMD will make some major changes to the core configs of the 4th Gen Ryzen lineup. The company hasn’t announced any new graphics cards in competition to the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series but instead, has added its branded bikes to the fan shop. A bunch of CompuBench tests of NVIDIA’s next-gen Ampere flagship, the RTX 3080 has been shared by APISAK on Twitter, giving us an approximate measure of the compute capabilities of the new GPUs compared to the existing Turing parts. Shortly after Intel announced its 11-Gen Tiger Lake CPUs, Acer has announced new Swift series laptops that will come powered by these new chips. The company has announced three new devices, Acer Swift 5 (SF514-55) and Swift 3 (SF313-53 and SF314-59). The three models have been refreshed with Intel’s 11th-generation Core CPUs — as opposed to bringing 10th-generation Intel Core CPUs.

If we take a look back at recent AMD Radeon releases and their product lineup currently on sale, there is a lack of straight competition between the two players in the high-end consumer space. NVIDIA’s top consumer GPU, the RTX 2080 Ti has no equal branded with a Radeon badge, or any badge, for that matter. The last GPU that AMD released that was priced and targeted to compete against NVIDIA’s -80 Ti GPUs was the Radeon Vega 64, and even that GPU was handily beaten by the 1080 Ti in several tests, especially gaming.

Not to everyone’s surprise, Intel did announce its much-awaited Tiger Lake mobile CPUs with their revolutionary Xe graphics, which did get a lot of appreciation worldwide and more often than not doubts in our minds, is Intel bluffing with its iGPU or is it real. Hot on the heels of the Ampere launch, NVIDIA’s stock price soared by around 10-12% to $588 in the first week of September. Later on, part of the gains was lost but the stock still settled at around $540, up from $525-530 on the 31st of August. Although NVIDIA’s Ampere graphics cards use Samsung’s 8nm node instead of TSMC’s much more efficient 7nm process, the various improvements brought by the 2x increase in FP32 performance and vastly superior RTX (ray-tracing and DLSS) performance should be more than enough to challenge and pacify AMD’s upcoming Navi 2x lineup.

American chipmaker Intel has announced its next generation mobile processors for future thin and light notebooks. The 11th Gen Intel Core mobile processors, codenamed Tiger Lake, brings computing and performance improvement, and several other upgrades over its predecessor, the 10th Gen Intel Core mobile processors. Asus recently confirmed a new lineup of laptops powered by Intel’s new 11th Gen Tiger Lake processors under its ZenBook and VivoBook series. The new lineup includes the ZenBook Flip 13 (UX363, ZenBook S (UX393), ZenBook 14 (UX435EA/EG), ZenBook 14 Ultralight (UX435EAL/EGL), and ZenBook Pro 15 (UX535). Acer has announced Spin 7, the world’s first laptop with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 platform. The announcement was made at the ongoing IFA 2020 tech show. The Spin 7 is Acer’s first laptop with 5G, the next generation of mobile internet connection that offers much faster data download and upload speeds. The company claims the Spin 7 will be the first Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 laptop. Simply put, the Spin 7 runs on an ARM-based processor.

While the 10th gen processors speed clocked at 4.0 GHz, the inclusion of a new core in the 11th gen has peeked its speed at 4.8Ghz. Intel this time has focused on the frequency gain while keeping the base clock speed at minimal. The graphics have been improved considerably compared to the 10th gen. Until now, gaming on Intel integrated graphics was a myth and people found AMD’s integrated Vega graphics more compelling, so people bought laptops with AMD APUs as they were more budget-friendly than the improved yet costlier Ice Lake CPUs. Epic Games and Nvidia have announced that Fortnite is getting RTX or real-time ray tracing, DLSS powered by AI, and more on PC. Honor is entering India’s mid-range market with an excellent offering — Honor MagicBook 15. At a price well below Rs. 50,000, it offers AMD Ryzen 5 processor, and we all know-how Intel-AMD situation is going in 2020. With a huge 15.6-inch Full HD display, it’s got everything from a pop-up webcam to a flush of I/O ports. Although it isn’t encouraged to have a motorized part in any of your devices, you never know when you leave the webcam on by-chance during that Zoom meeting, which won’t happen in this case at least.

The specifications for the three RTX 30 cards when compared to their RTX 20 counterparts let you know exactly how they are positioned. With 24 GB of memory, the RTX 3090 is akin to the RTX TITAN and would be targeted at workstations and multitasking machines which require a lot of CUDA cores. It would appear that NVIDIA is holding back till AMD’s RDNA2 “Big Navi” cards are released in November 2020. We should hopefully see RTX 3080 Ti or Super cards that equal or beat the RDNA cards as a reaction to AMD’s cards.

We already saw a glimpse of this puppy back at CES:2020 but now it’s official. The famed Swift 360Hz PG259QNR monitor has the Nvidia G-Sync smarts and more. Nvidia just announced the RTX 30 Series GPUs along with a neat trick for competitive gaming called Nvidia Reflex. Nvidia Reflex Latency Analyzer detects input coming from the mouse and then measures the time it takes for the resulting pixels to change on the screen. This helps to reduce the latency of up to 50% according to Nvidia and Asus ROG.

Asus ZenBook 14 was launched alongside the ZenBook 13, VivoBook 14 and the VivoBook Ultra K14 laptops in India last month. It has the top of the line specs, which includes a 14-inch display, Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, 1TB storage and 67 Wh battery. If you look at the specifications, it checks all the right boxes in the list. But we all know that mere specs don’t make a great laptop. It’s the overall experience right from the display to the software that make or break a laptop.

During its Ampere launch event, NVIDIA shared a performance benchmark slide giving us a clear picture of the GeForce RTX 3080’s capabilities. It appears that, as promised, the GeForce RTX 3080 will indeed deliver up to twice the performance of the Turing GeForce RTX 2080, meaning that NVIDIA’s new US$799 flagship will likely leave the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti behind as well and offer a true 4K/60 experience. If Borderlands 3 signposts the GeForce RTX 3080’s rasterization capabilities, gamers looking for a genuine 4K/60 experience sans compromise might just have found their match. As per sources, NVIDIA’s RTX 3090 may draw up to 500W of power under load, with a price-tag of as much as $3,000 for the higher-end factory overclocked models. Many of the AIB variants have already been leaked, all of them featuring a large triple-fan design and fancy RGB lighting. Interestingly, despite the node shrink from 12nm to 7nm (we’re assuming here), the core clocks are actually somewhat lower than Turing. This can only be explained on the basis of excessive power consumption and heat.

Lenovo on Monday introduced its next-generation of hardware products, which includes the ultra-slim Yoga Slim 9i laptop featuring a leather cover, Tab 11 Pro tablet with an OLED display and Smart Clock Essential, among others. The latest edition to the Yoga lineup is the Yoga Slim 9i as well as the Yoga 9i 2-in-1. The Yoga Slim 9i is a traditional laptop, while the Yoga 9i 2-in-1 is a convertible notebook. Available in 14-inch or 15-inch options, the new laptops are powered by Intel’s Tiger Lake processors, with up to 4K HDR display, up to 16GB DDR4 RAM, up to 2TB PCIe SSD, and a new Thunderbolt 4 connection standard.

I tested the unit with an Intel Core i7-10875H CPU, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q GPU, 16GBDDR4 RAM and 1TB NVMe SSD. Since the laptop is designed for creative and professional users, Intel’s 10th generation Core i7 processor and 16GB RAM should serve as a minimum for a laptop for this rank. I haven’t faced many issues while using the laptop. In fact, the specs of this laptop were more than enough for the kind of work I do

The variant that we got was running on Intel’s latest 10th generation Core i7-1065G7 processor paired with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and 1TB of NVMe SSSD. The machine lacks any dedicated GPUs offered by Nvidia/Intel, so don’t expect to game on this machine. The laptop, however, was seamless for basic web browsing and working on spreadsheets. Even while running Chrome with around 15-20 tabs open on multiple windows, the laptop didn’t break a sweat, which was really cool.

Nvidia includes revenue from Mellanox as part of its data center revenue after the acquisition earlier this year. The addition of Mellanox was able to compensate for Nvidia’s shortfall in professional visualization and automotive revenue. Nvidia increased its revenue by 47.1 percent. AMD’s semiconductor revenue rose 26.2 percent due to the outstanding receptions of its Ryzen and EPYC processors in the notebook and server markets, respectively.

Intel’s upcoming mid-range Core i5-1135G7 benchmarks have just surfaced online (via @davideneco25320) and have been compared against the current best mid-range APU – the AMD Ryzen 5 4600U that comes with 6 cores and 12 threads. The Core i5-1135G7 is 4 cores and 8 threads with 1.25 MB (5 MB in total) L2 cache but a lower L3 cache of 8 MB along with a 2.40 GHz base and 4.20 GHz boost clock.
