At 26mm thin and weighing just 2.3kgs, the Lenovo Legion Y540 is one of the most portable 15.6-inch gaming laptops around. The newly launched Honor MagicBook 15 ships with 64-bit Windows 10 Home and features a 15.6-inch display. It will be available in Mystic Silver with Azure Blue chamfer. The device has a 180-degree hinge and TUV Rheinland certified Full HD display. It has a 16:9 aspect ratio, 87 percent screen-to-body ratio, and 250nits screen brightness. The laptop is powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U CPU, paired with Radeon Vega 8 GPU and 8GB of DDR4 dual-channel RAM.

As per sources, NVIDIA’s RTX 3090 may draw up to 500W of power under load, with a price-tag of as much as $3,000 for the higher-end factory overclocked models. Many of the AIB variants have already been leaked, all of them featuring a large triple-fan design and fancy RGB lighting. Interestingly, despite the node shrink from 12nm to 7nm (we’re assuming here), the core clocks are actually somewhat lower than Turing. This can only be explained on the basis of excessive power consumption and heat.

Motherboard vendors have started releasing BIOS updates to patch in support for the upcoming Zen 3 CPUs. The latest updates for ASUS and ASRock boards based on the X570 and B550 chipsets include support for not only the A0 and B0 stepping of Vermeer (Ryzen 4000 CPUs) but Cezanne as well. Here, you’ve got the update including preliminary support for the Cezanne chips (Ryzen 5000 APUs). These parts will be based on the Zen 3 cores, but continue to use an enhanced form of the GCN-based Vega GPU core. Vermeer is slated to launch in October/November while Cezanne will land in the second half of 2021 for notebooks and desktops.

Lenovo on Monday introduced its next-generation of hardware products, which includes the ultra-slim Yoga Slim 9i laptop featuring a leather cover, Tab 11 Pro tablet with an OLED display and Smart Clock Essential, among others. The latest edition to the Yoga lineup is the Yoga Slim 9i as well as the Yoga 9i 2-in-1. The Yoga Slim 9i is a traditional laptop, while the Yoga 9i 2-in-1 is a convertible notebook. Available in 14-inch or 15-inch options, the new laptops are powered by Intel’s Tiger Lake processors, with up to 4K HDR display, up to 16GB DDR4 RAM, up to 2TB PCIe SSD, and a new Thunderbolt 4 connection standard.

I tested the unit with an Intel Core i7-10875H CPU, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Max-Q GPU, 16GBDDR4 RAM and 1TB NVMe SSD. Since the laptop is designed for creative and professional users, Intel’s 10th generation Core i7 processor and 16GB RAM should serve as a minimum for a laptop for this rank. I haven’t faced many issues while using the laptop. In fact, the specs of this laptop were more than enough for the kind of work I do

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a recent webcast to 50,000 Facebook employees called out Apple App Store’s policies. “[Apple has] this unique stranglehold as a gatekeeper on what gets on phones,” Zuckerberg said. He further said that Apple’s App Store “blocks innovation, blocks competition and allows Apple to charge monopoly rents.” According to a report by BuzzFeed, Zuckerberg was answering one of the employee’s questions who asked about Apple’s policies related to gaming apps.

The variant that we got was running on Intel’s latest 10th generation Core i7-1065G7 processor paired with 16GB of DDR4 RAM and 1TB of NVMe SSSD. The machine lacks any dedicated GPUs offered by Nvidia/Intel, so don’t expect to game on this machine. The laptop, however, was seamless for basic web browsing and working on spreadsheets. Even while running Chrome with around 15-20 tabs open on multiple windows, the laptop didn’t break a sweat, which was really cool.

Asus on Monday announced its foray into India’s commercial PC market. Dinesh Sharma, who heads mobile business for Asus India has been appointed to also lead its commercial PC operations in the country. Under his leadership, the Taiwanese major, known primarily for its expertise in motherboards and high-end gaming PCs, will soon launch notebooks, desktops, all in ones and mobile workstations catering to businesses of all sizes including micro-businesses, SMBs and large enterprise customers.

Taiwanese tech major Asus on Monday announced its foray into the commercial PC segment in India and said it aims to capture five per cent market share in the next one year. The company, which held 16 per cent share in the country’s consumer PC segment in the June 2020 quarter (as per IDC data), has named Dinesh Sharma as the Business Head for the new vertical. He will continue to head the mobile phone business for Asus India as well. “India is the key focus country for Asus and in the consumer PC segment, we are already among the top players in the market.”

Sony has already confirmed that the PlayStation 5 includes AMD hardware with Zen 2 CPUs and Navi GPUs. This will be combined with a super-fast PCIe 4.0 SSD and a new data transfer architecture. The new DualSense controller has also been confirmed to come with haptic feedback and a built-in microphone. While the company has yet to confirm the release date. The reports indicate that the Sony PS5 could go on sale starting on November 20.

While the top models run on AMD’s powerful 7nm based R9-4900HS processor with Nvidia RTX 2060, 1TB SSD and 16GB RAM, the base variant runs on AMD R5-4600HS with Nvidia GTX 1650. The top variant, we reviewed, handled most of the graphic intensive games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Just Cause 4 with ease. The low priced variant won’t deliver the same level of gaming performance, but they are still adequately powerful and with the GTX1650 GPU can handle many of the creator level tasks with ease.
