AMD 500 Series Motherboards get BIOS Updates for Ryzen 4000 CPUs and 5000 APUsedit

Motherboard vendors have started releasing BIOS updates to patch in support for the upcoming Zen 3 CPUs. The latest updates for ASUS and ASRock boards based on the X570 and B550 chipsets include support for not only the A0 and B0 stepping of Vermeer (Ryzen 4000 CPUs) but Cezanne as well. Here, you’ve got the update including preliminary support for the Cezanne chips (Ryzen 5000 APUs). These parts will be based on the Zen 3 cores, but continue to use an enhanced form of the GCN-based Vega GPU core. Vermeer is slated to launch in October/November while Cezanne will land in the second half of 2021 for notebooks and desktops.

Sony PlayStation 5 will offer Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1edit

Sony has already confirmed that the PlayStation 5 includes AMD hardware with Zen 2 CPUs and Navi GPUs. This will be combined with a super-fast PCIe 4.0 SSD and a new data transfer architecture. The new DualSense controller has also been confirmed to come with haptic feedback and a built-in microphone. While the company has yet to confirm the release date. The reports indicate that the Sony PS5 could go on sale starting on November 20.

Intel Core i5-1135G7 vs AMD Ryzen 5 4600U: Intel fights backedit

Intel’s upcoming mid-range Core i5-1135G7 benchmarks have just surfaced online (via @davideneco25320) and have been compared against the current best mid-range APU – the AMD Ryzen 5 4600U that comes with 6 cores and 12 threads. The Core i5-1135G7 is 4 cores and 8 threads with 1.25 MB (5 MB in total) L2 cache but a lower L3 cache of 8 MB along with a 2.40 GHz base and 4.20 GHz boost clock.

NVIDIA RTX 3090 AIB Cards may Draw up to 500W w/ Price of $3,000edit

As per sources, NVIDIA’s RTX 3090 may draw up to 500W of power under load, with a price-tag of as much as $3,000 for the higher-end factory overclocked models. Many of the AIB variants have already been leaked, all of them featuring a large triple-fan design and fancy RGB lighting. Interestingly, despite the node shrink from 12nm to 7nm (we’re assuming here), the core clocks are actually somewhat lower than Turing. This can only be explained on the basis of excessive power consumption and heat.

Asus forays into India’s commercial PC market, appoints Dinesh Sharma as business headedit

Asus on Monday announced its foray into India’s commercial PC market. Dinesh Sharma, who heads mobile business for Asus India has been appointed to also lead its commercial PC operations in the country. Under his leadership, the Taiwanese major, known primarily for its expertise in motherboards and high-end gaming PCs, will soon launch notebooks, desktops, all in ones and mobile workstations catering to businesses of all sizes including micro-businesses, SMBs and large enterprise customers.

He will continue to head the mobile phone business for Asus India as well. “India is the key focus country for Asus and in the consumer PC segment, we are already among the top players in the market.”
