Hot on the heels of the Ampere launch, NVIDIA’s stock price soared by around 10-12% to $588 in the first week of September. Later on, part of the gains was lost but the stock still settled at around $540, up from $525-530 on the 31st of August. Although NVIDIA’s Ampere graphics cards use Samsung’s 8nm node instead of TSMC’s much more efficient 7nm process, the various improvements brought by the 2x increase in FP32 performance and vastly superior RTX (ray-tracing and DLSS) performance should be more than enough to challenge and pacify AMD’s upcoming Navi 2x lineup.

American chipmaker Intel has announced its next generation mobile processors for future thin and light notebooks. The 11th Gen Intel Core mobile processors, codenamed Tiger Lake, brings computing and performance improvement, and several other upgrades over its predecessor, the 10th Gen Intel Core mobile processors. Moreover, the 11th Gen Core processors are touted to be energy efficient, thanks to 10nm SuperFin process technology.

Tiger Lake was already previewed by Intel on Architecture Day 2020, with the highlights being the use of the SuperFIN node with the 10nm process of the previous 10th Generation laptop CPUs and the introduction of Intel’s integrated Iris Xe Graphics.Intel claims that Xe boasts two times the performance over the previous generation in gaming applications, as well as outperforming the similarly-positioned competition, directly mentioning AMD Ryzen 4800U and Nvidia’s MX350 getting bested by an unspecified Xe integrated GPU.

Asus recently confirmed a new lineup of laptops powered by Intel’s new 11th Gen Tiger Lake processors under its ZenBook and VivoBook series. The new lineup includes the ZenBook Flip 13 (UX363, ZenBook S (UX393), ZenBook 14 (UX435EA/EG), ZenBook 14 Ultralight (UX435EAL/EGL), and ZenBook Pro 15 (UX535). Additionally, the ZenBook Flip S (UX371) convertible laptop debuts as the first Asus laptop carrying the Intel Evo branding.

Acer has announced Spin 7, the world’s first laptop with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 platform. The announcement was made at the ongoing IFA 2020 tech show. The Spin 7 is Acer’s first laptop with 5G, the next generation of mobile internet connection that offers much faster data download and upload speeds. The company claims the Spin 7 will be the first Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 laptop. Simply put, the Spin 7 runs on an ARM-based processor.

While the 10th gen processors speed clocked at 4.0 GHz, the inclusion of a new core in the 11th gen has peeked its speed at 4.8Ghz. Intel this time has focused on the frequency gain while keeping the base clock speed at minimal. The graphics have been improved considerably compared to the 10th gen. It supports up to four 4K60 displays or a single 8K60 display.

Until now, gaming on Intel integrated graphics was a myth and people found AMD’s integrated Vega graphics more compelling, so people bought laptops with AMD APUs as they were more budget-friendly than the improved yet costlier Ice Lake CPUs. Intel has released its first 11th Gen ‘Tiger Lake’ processors for laptops, which will feature new integrated Xe graphics.
