A bunch of CompuBench tests of NVIDIA’s next-gen Ampere flagship, the RTX 3080 has been shared by APISAK on Twitter, giving us an approximate measure of the compute capabilities of the new GPUs compared to the existing Turing parts. Keep in mind that these are the CUDA and OpenCL benchmarks that represent the GPGPU (general-purpose computing) performance of these GPUs. That means compute operations rather than the graphics rendering, tasks usually that are usually performed by the CPU but offloaded to the GPU for acceleration and faster batch execution.

Shortly after Intel announced its 11-Gen Tiger Lake CPUs, Acer has announced new Swift series laptops that will come powered by these new chips. The company has announced three new devices, Acer Swift 5 (SF514-55) and Swift 3 (SF313-53 and SF314-59). The three models have been refreshed with Intel’s 11th-generation Core CPUs — as opposed to bringing 10th-generation Intel Core CPUs.

If we take a look back at recent AMD Radeon releases and their product lineup currently on sale, there is a lack of straight competition between the two players in the high-end consumer space. NVIDIA’s top consumer GPU, the RTX 2080 Ti has no equal branded with a Radeon badge, or any badge, for that matter. The last GPU that AMD released that was priced and targeted to compete against NVIDIA’s -80 Ti GPUs was the Radeon Vega 64, and even that GPU was handily beaten by the 1080 Ti in several tests, especially gaming.

Not to everyone’s surprise, Intel did announce its much-awaited Tiger Lake mobile CPUs with their revolutionary Xe graphics, which did get a lot of appreciation worldwide and more often than not doubts in our minds, is Intel bluffing with its iGPU or is it real. In comparison with AMD’s Ryzen 7 4800U, the new Core i7-1165G7 was touted to deliver around 20-30% better performance in games.
