Agri-innovation: Cabinet decides to fund UAS centreedit
The state Cabinet has decided to fund the setting up of a Centre for Excellence in Agriculture Innovation, to foster innovation in Agriculture Sciences.Speaking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mr Krishna Byregowda said that the campus will come up in the National Centre for Biological Sciences, located in the University of Agriculture Sciences campus(UAS). The NCBS has a C-CAMP incubation centre, which promotes research in science. However, most of the research done in this campus are human related and pharmaceutical industry oriented. None of the research projects are related to agriculture.

The State Cabinet on Thursday gave its approval to set up a Cabinet Sub-committee headed by the Chief Minister to decide on special incentives that could be offered to draw big-ticket investments to the state. Though the state already has packages of such incentives, the cabinet felt the need for offering special incentives for mega or super projects depending on the investment amount, employment generation potential and backwardness of the region where the investment is proposed.
