A parliamentary panel has pulled up the government for not taking steps to lower the prices of power tillers and check cartels in the agri-machinery sector. Most farmers in the country are small and marginal, who could hardly afford costly agri-equipment and machinery. In this scenario, power tillers with flexibility, multi-purpose nature and low cost are considered ideal to enhance the level of agri-mechanisation, it said.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between J & K Agriculture Department and National Seed Corporation (NSC) for the establishment of Seed Processing and Storage Unit at Kathua. The project would be developed over 16 Kanal land at Village Taraf Manjali in Kathua. Director Agriculture Jammu, H. K. Razdan and Regional Manager National Seed Corporation, Chandigarh Mukesh Kumar Jatt signed the MoU.
