Speaking to STOI, Parthasarthi said that the scheme is an interim arrangement to provide assistance to distressed farmers until the government puts in place the adequate infrastructure to support agricultural activities.

Jammu and Kashmir government has joined the club of first few states to fast-track the process of transferring the first instalment of Rs 2,000 to the farmers’ accounts under the ambitious ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi’ (Prime Minister Kisan) scheme. Brought under President’s Rule on December 20, 2018, the state has fixed February 22 deadline to identify the eligible farmers so that the first installment of Rs 2,000 is transferred before March 31.
