Retired Supreme Court Judge and former Chairperson of National Green Tribunal Swantanter Kumar on Thursday noted that farmers needed to be educated about the ill-effects of the large scale crop residual and stubble burning in the fields and the coercive measures being adopted by successive governments alone would not work. “If we do not wake up to the rising threat of monstrous air pollution leading to engulf of smog in northern India, the havoc is in the offing, ” he stated.
