Haryana farmers demand compensation as rain inundates standing cropedit

Thousands of acres of standing crop and vegetables were inundated in the northern parts of Haryana after heavy to very heavy rainfall in the past four days. As per reports, waterlogging was reported across state especially in Kurukshetra, Yamunanagar, Ambala, Karnal, Kaithal and Sonepat districts. According to farmers, rain and high velocity winds have flattened mustard crop and waterlogging is harmful for vegetables, especially potato, cauliflower and peas. Govt’s paddy procurement touches 53.28 mt so far in 2021-22 seasonedit

The Centre has procured 532.86 lakh tonnes of paddy so far in the ongoing 2021-22 marketing year season, with maximum quantities being purchased from Punjab, the Union food ministry said on Monday. “Till now, about 64.07 lakh farmers have been benefited with an MSP (minimum support price) value of Rs 1,04,441.45 crore,” the ministry said in a statement. Out of the total procurement undertaken so far, maximum of 186.85 lakh tonnes of paddy has been procured from Punjab, followed by 67.65 lakh tonnes from Chhattisgarh, 65.54 lakh tonnes from Telangana, 55.30 lakh tonnes from Haryana and 46.50 lakh tonnes from Uttar Pradesh till January 9 of the ongoing marketing season. Strong domestic sales momentum in the first half of 2021, along with steady growth in exports in recent months, drove total domestic tractor manufacturing for 2021 to 1,065,280 units, the highest-ever yearly figure, up from 8,63,125 units in 2020. Total domestic sales increased by 13% to 9,03,724 units in 2021, up from 8,02,670 units in 2020, whilst exports increased by 61% to 1,24,901 units, the highest-ever annual export volume.
