‘UP govt bought ₹10k-cr worth paddy benefiting 8.4L farmers’edit

UP government on Wednesday said that it has so far procured paddy worth more than Rs 10,000 crore, benefitting more than 8.4 lakh farmers in the state. According to commissioner, food and civil supplies, Sorabh Babu, around 53.321 lakh metric tonnes of paddy worth more than Rs 10,002.21 crore has been purchased from farmers and the payment is being made within 72 hours of the purchase directly to their bank accounts. He said that the paddy procurement is progressing smoothly in the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2021-22 from farmers.
