Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES) said the company’s domestic sales in February 2022 were at 18,910 units, as against 27,170 units during February 2021. Total tractor sales (Domestic + Exports) during February 2022 were at 20,437 units, as against 28,146 units for the same period last year. Exports for February 2022 stood at 1,527 units, a growth of 56 percent over the previous year. The Madhya Pradesh government is launching an incentive scheme to prevent farmers from producing wheat, fearing that it would raise the burden on the state budget. Other crop diversification, unlike wheat, would not have a minimum support price (MSP), officials said. The MP government purchased its most wheat in 2020, with 356 lakh metric tonnes, and paid farmers a total of Rs 25,311 crore. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday said the government will promote setting up of more Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in the country as part of its efforts to increase income of small and marginal farmers. Addressing a conference organised by CII-NCDEX FPO summit, he said the government has already started a scheme to set up 10,000 FPOs with an outlay of Rs 6,865 crore and the programme is being implemented at a fast pace. Tomar said the programme of setting up FPOs is very effective in ensuring progress of small and marginal farmers. The latest report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released on Monday indicates the effectiveness of most adaptation measures, including water-related measures, falls sharply at higher levels of global warming above 1.5-degree C, showing that adaptation alone will not solve the crisis.
