Ukraine introduces export licences for key agricultural commoditiesedit

Ukraine has introduced export licences for its key agriculture commodities wheat, corn and sunflower oil, Interfax Ukraine news agency quoted a government resolution as saying on Sunday. The document said that traders would also need licences to export poultry and eggs, the agency said. Ukraine is among the world’s leading producers and exporters of grain and vegetable oils. The world’s largest exporter of sunflower oil had also said it can export more than 60 million tonnes of grain, including 33 million tonnes of corn and 23 million tonnes of wheat in the 2021/22 July-June season. Rainfall alert doubles harvesting pace in Tiruchy, over 2,000 ha covered in two daysedit

Farmers in the district, who were kept on their toes following heavy rainfall alert for delta districts over the weekend, sped up harvesting works to cover as many as 2,000 hectares of paddy cultivation, which is twice the normal pace, officials said. No rainfall was, however, recorded in Tiruchy during the period. Being one of the largest cultivation seasons, more than 51,000 hectares were covered under Samba/Thaladi in the district, of which more than 70 per cent of the acreage has completed harvesting.
