Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that 19 per cent of our agriculture finance is done through cooperative societies. 35 per cent of fertiliser distribution, 30 per cent fertiliser production, 40 per cent of sugar production, 13 per cent of procurement of wheat and 20 per cent of paddy procurement is done by cooperatives only. While addressing the Cooperative Beneficiaries Conference in Bengaluru Shah said, “Out of 30 lakh cooperatives in the whole world, 9 lakh cooperatives are in India only. Agri exports from India up 16% to $17 billion in Apr-Novedit

Exports of major agriculture and processed products, promoted by Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), have jumped by 15.68 per cent to $17.43 billion during April-November of current fiscal from $15.07 billion year-ago. Exceeding the target, APEDA products had registered record $24.76 billion in FY22, still the target for current fiscal has been set at $23.56 billion.

India’s agricultural products exports up 16% in 2022-23edit

India’s agricultural and processed food products exports rose by 16 per cent in the first eight months (April-November) of the current financial year 2022-23 on a yearly basis. The agricultural exports has managed to attain 74 per cent of its annual export target, latest data released by Ministry of Commerce and Industry showed. An export target of $23.56 billion has been fixed for the agricultural and processed food products basket for the year 2022-23. According to the provisional data, the overall export of agricultural and processed food products increased to $17.43 billion from $15.07 billion over the same period of the last fiscal.
