Retail inflation for agricultural workers and rural labourers eased slightly to 7.37% and 7.12%, respectively, during August, as compared to the previous month, due to lower fuel prices and lower cost of clothing, bedding and footwear. Point to point rate of Inflation based on the CPI-AL(Consumer Price Index Number for Agricultural Labourers), and CPI-RL (Consumer Price Index Number for Rural Labourers) stood at 7.37% and 7.12% in August, 2023 compared to 7.43% and 7.26% respectively in July, 2023, according to data from Ministry of Labour and Employment, which was released on Thursday.

TN CM announces Rs 560 cr relief for paddy crop loss to farmersedit

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday announced crop insurance compensation of Rs 560 crore to farmers in the state who suffered losses due to rainfall deficit in the Northeast Monsoon during samba cultivation season in 2022-23. The sum will be deposited into the bank accounts of six lakh eligible farmers from the districts notified as affected by natural calamities such as drought, flood, cyclones, and monsoon failure, he said.

On the first day of the Malayalam month of Kanni, a paddy field in Angadippuram, in Malappuram district, plays host to an entire village — and an agrarian tradition. Every year, devotees of Thirumandhamkunnu bhagavathi gather for the ‘nadeel yatnam’, the planting of paddy seedlings, on 1.88 acres of land, known as bhagavathi kandam. The tradition, which also involves local farmers, holds profound significance, as it is believed to secure the blessings of the bhagavathi, in the hope of translating the fervent wishes of participants into reality. The yatnam even draws participants and onlookers from outside Angadippuram.

65% drop in stubble-burning incidents between 2017 to 2022 in UPedit

In a major achievement for the Yogi Government, Uttar Pradesh has been successful in effectively curbing the incidents of stubble burning. As per the presentation made before Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra, the stubble-burning incidents have dropped by 65.65 percent between 2017-2022. Under the Promotion of Agricultural Mechanization for In-Situ Management of Crop Residue (CRM) scheme, details of incidents of crop residue burning that occurred in the financial year 2022 were presented, according to which in 2022, a total of 3,017 incidents of crop residue burning were reported, registering 65 percent decrease from 8,784 incidents in 2017.
