Punjab agri experts raise concern over water-guzzling spring maizeedit

Spring maize, sown from February to June, has become a favourite of farmers in the state, forcing the agricultural experts to raise a red flag as the crop, which needs more water to sustain something which Punjab, with its fast-depleting groundwater table, can’t afford.

CM: Govt to procure rain-soaked paddyedit

Chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday said farmers need not be worried if their paddy stocks at the procurement centres are soaked due to untimely rain and directed officials to buy the moisture-containing produce. The CM enquired about the damages caused due to strong winds, rain and lightning reported from several districts, including Adilabad, Medak and Sangareddy.
