Of this, 3.9 lakh hectare is irrigated, and 3.5 lakh hectare is rain-fed. Cereals, pulses, oilseeds and commercial crops are grown in the district. Cereals are grown on 2.3 lakh hectare, pulses on 0.8 lakh hectare, oilseeds on 1.4 lakh hectare, and commercial crops on 3 lakh hectare. Among cereals, maize is the major crop (grown on 1.3 lakh hectare).
