IoT or Internet of things can be interpreted as a system of inter-networking computing devices, mechanical or digital machines or objects that with unique identifiers can transfer data over a network without the need for a human interaction. The IoT revolution in India is already catching on with increasing government and venture capital investments pouring into supporting startups.

You need connectivity in place because that is the foundation of IoT, then you need the platform because that’s where you manage the intelligence and analytics of the network and then you manage the devices that you’re connecting through the IoT technology. I believe it’s incredibly important because given the trend in the country, we’re seeing that mobility revenues are declining, they’re flattish.

Intelligent things are physical things that go beyond the execution of rigid programming models to exploit AI to deliver advanced behaviors and interact more naturally with their surroundings and with people. AI is driving advances for new intelligent things (such as autonomous vehicles, robots and drones) and delivering enhanced capability to many existing things (such as Internet of Things connected consumer and industrial systems).

This is no different when it comes to IoT in healthcare. Pacemakers, in particular, have been in the headlines for the discovery of major vulnerabilities in security. IBM’s Milan Patel noted on the company’s Security Intelligence site that these devices carry security risks, many of which consumers are unaware of.
