Govt recommends green registration plates for electric vehiclesedit

The Union road transport and highways ministry has recommended green registration plates for electric vehicles (EVs) so as to identify them for preferential treatment, such as special parking or discounted tolls. The ministry will soon issue a notification specifying the colour of the plates to be used by these vehicles, two senior government officials said on condition of anonymity. According to the ministry’s proposal, while the registration plates of private electric vehicles will have a green background with numbers and letters in white, those of commercial electric vehicles will have a green background with numbers and letters in yellow, the officials added.

City skills co under K’taka govt scanneredit

ICA Edu Skills, a city-based firm for skill development and placement, is under scanner of the Karnataka government for alleged misrepresentation of placement records. The firm was initially blacklisted by the department of skill development of the state government on January 18. Besides blacklisting, a penalty, too, was imposed. However, following the firm’s appeal against the order in the appellate authority, the order of blacklisting was stayed in April.

A subsidy scheme for promoting solar power equipment manufacturing is awaiting approval of the finance ministry while another one that offers assured power offtake to manufacturers is embroiled in World Trade Organisation (WTO) regulations.Officials said a Rs 160 billion capital subsidy was available to domestic and foreign players to set up end-to-end solar power equipment manufacturing in India. Under the M-SIPS scheme, the subsidy is to be disbursed after the setting up of the facility. The industry, however, has sought an upfront subsidy and interest subvention.
