Techolution to expand in Hyderabad edit

Techolution has worked with the Kolkata government to develop smart power grid project and has helped the Mauritius government to put sensors in their water pipes so as to measure the level of water wastage and theft. Similarly, the company has developed technologies like facial recognition through the use of IoT wherein the employee does not need to punch in and the sensor will automatically recognise them as they enter the office.

The future is electric, but investment in renewables is down edit

The electricity industry attracted $750 billion in 2017, thanks to robust spending on grids. That’s compared with $715 billion that flowed into oil and gas supply. About $298 billion was invested in renewable power generation, down 7 per cent from the previous year. A rise in electrification is expected across almost all sectors, from transport to heavy industry.

India targets 175 GW of renewable energy by 2022: Ministeredit

The government has set a target of installing 175 GW of renewable energy capacity by the year 2022, which includes 100 GW from solar, 60 GW from wind, 10 GW from bio-power and 5 GW from small hydro-power, Lok Sabha was informed on Thursday. In a written reply, Power minister RK Singh said the Government has launched several schemes for promotion and development of renewable energy including solar energy in the country from time to time.

Fitch Ratings analysts Jenny Huang, Ying Wang and Sajal Kishore said Asia has emerged as the largest source of global renewable power additions, due to supportive state policies and viable economics. The region has contributed around 60 percent of capacity additions since 2013; had 42 percent of global capacity in 2017; and accounted for 40 percent, 40 percent, and 54 percent of the global market share for hydropower, wind power and solar power by installed capacity, respectively.
