Claas to drop its Cargos range of forage wagonsedit

In a move that will come as little surprise to those following the market for forage wagons, a major manufacturer is to stop building the machines. Claas has just announced that after reviewing the future of forage production, it has decided to focus its manufacturing capabilities on its Orbis maize headers and cease production of the Cargos forage wagon range. In an investment programme totalling over €40 million, the company is to expand and modernise its facility at Bad Saulgau in southern Germany. An existing 5,000m² hall is being redesigned in order to create additional assembly space, in addition to the energy infrastructure being upgraded over several stages to meet future production capacity.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Sector (FES), part of the Mahindra Group, today announced its tractor sales numbers for April 2022. Domestic sales in April 2022 were at 39,405 units, as against 26,130 units during April 2021. Total tractor sales (Domestic + Exports) during April 2022 was at 40,939 units, as against 27,523 units for the same period last year. Exports for the month stood at 1,534 units. Govt assures on fertiliser availability during Kharif season; says subsidy may rise to Rs 2.5 lakh cr this fiscaledit

The Centre on Monday stressed that availability of fertilisers during the current Kharif (summer-sown) season is more than the estimated demand, adding that its subsidy for this fiscal might increase to around Rs 2.5 lakh crore to ensure that farmers get crop nutrients at highly subsidised rates. The Centre further said it will take strict action against hoarding of crop nutrients and asked states to monitor fertiliser movement. It also told states to provide accurate information to farmers for ensuring there is no panic buying. As the state government announced financial assistance of ₹1,500 per acre to each of the farmers sowing paddy through the direct seeding of rice (DSR) technique, the PR-126 seed, the most famous short-duration variety of paddy crop developed by the Punjab Agriculture University (PAU), has gone off the shelves. The university had developed 2,600 quintals of seeds and put them on sale on March 20. But in nearly over a month, the entire stock was emptied.
