Straw burning count in Punjab nears 10,000, four times higher than 2021edit

Stubble burning cases continued to rise sharply in Punjab on Wednesday, as the state recorded 1,247 such cases over the 24 hours preceding the day. With this, the overall number of wheat straw burning cases for the season reached 9,518, which is only 582 cases less than the total of 10,100 straw burning cases recorded in the previous year. Up to May 4, the state has recorded four times more cases this year than in 2021, when 2,365 cases were reported in the same period. The figure was 133 in 2020.
