Former Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao has appreciated the agriculture policies of the State government. After meeting Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy here on Sunday, he stressed that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao should lead the agriculture ministers of other States and mount pressure on the Centre for farmer-friendly agriculture policies. According to several media reports, Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has announced the date of releasing the 11th installment. Tomar gave this information in a program held in Madhya Pradesh. Tomar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will transfer the next installment of Rs 2,000 to farmers 31st May 2022. Punjab sets target to double area under DSR techniqueedit

The Punjab agriculture department has fixed a target to bring 30 lakh acres (12 lakh hectares) of paddy under the direct seeding of rice (DSR) technique during current kharif season, almost double as compared to the previous season. According to an official spokesperson, chief minister Bhagwant Mann, who also holds the portfolio of agriculture, directed the department to make concerted efforts to bring around 30 lakh acres under this technique. The move is aimed at conserving the underground water with this technology. Last year, paddy over 15 lakh acres was sown using DSR technique in the state.
